Mind Axes and Humor - Mr. Slick

As humans, humor is a essential part of our daily life. We use it to tell stories, and socially it is important to build bonds. Such experiences can be codified and reimagined through the model. You can think of humour as a bridge linking human to humans, or human to ideas. Each person's bridge may be built with varying materials or sizes, but fundamentally, it is a bridge and a link. And in this model, we see the mind built upon the axes, and some splits of dichotomy. While every person has a capacity to understand and have their own interpretation of humour, depending on the position in neurotypology it could drastically influence how well they resonate with the experience. Remember, traits do not matter as much, but rather it is the cognition pattern that crucial to the interpretation and conceivement of both the humour and the fundamental model.

In the X axis, humour can be defined as the lexicality of the interpretation. On the far lexical side, one’s cognition in this would default to finding the basic framework, which is often times language and the conscious experience, and find out paradoxes or exemplified uses of such.  A person's cognition who is more impressionistic, on the hand, would codify and see the world through impressions, emotional expressions, and vibes. Structure breaks down in the mind of the impressionist.

On the Y axis, the mind is now on the axes of judgement of criteria. On the far lateral side, one's cognition would have several components of information combining into one, using these to alter the definition of criterion, almost like a philosophical ideaology. On the far vertical side, one's criteria would be based on immediate state of a situation, more of a pragmatic ideaology.

Lateral lexical

Examples:copypastas, increasingly verbose, science/math meta memes.

Typical nerd shit, as the image portrays a cat, in a seemingly trapped and depressed way, and presents a somber mood.  This scene parodies as the point of view can be understood in terms of the relativity of a particle like a cat, being both alive and dead at the same time. Lat lexes utilizing self establishing methods and context, a synthesis of both laterality and lexicality. At best they can be complex and witty, but at worse they can be pretentious and confusing.

Linear Lexical

Examples: Dad jokes, conservative memes

Not funny, didn’t laugh. The direction of straightforward and clear denial represents the down to earth nature of people who are linear and lexical. The information is clear and has no need of any other type of interpretation. The framework is straightforward and of singular path. Lin lexes use down to earth and singular track way of processing and creation of such memes. At best they can be sarcastic and deadpan, at worse they can be dull and boring.

Linear impressionist

Examples: Shitposts, slapstick

Rickrolls, trolls, fortnite moves, post this stupid cat, weird reactions. The movement of humour in this example would be impulsive and direct. There is no need for structure, only a constant bombardment of in your face moments. Combining the intense and emotional mind of the impressionist side as well as the single track linear path, these memes are one of the more popular types of humour especially in young people. At best they are joyful and boisterous, at worse they are annoying and repetitive.

Lateral impressionist

Examples: Surreal, fantasy

What happens when self transcendence combines with societal and universal transcendence and... what am I. The energy in this quadra is warped and questioning. Combining the multi criteria lateral axes along with the atmospheric vigor of impressionism, much of their humour is simply strange and otherworldly. At best they are cryptic and enigmatic, at worse they are unintelligible and self-indulgent.

Anyone can enjoy any type of humour, but it is always important to delve into the mind of both the viewer and creator. The mind axes can still describe this phenomenon, like finding a spider in the web. The creator weaves his story through the medium of art, language, and forms a way for mutual human understanding. The strange zone between sensical and nonsensical is merely centimeters away, and through paradoxes, parodies, and our restlessness to explain everything, we have given birth to the wonders of mankind, humour.

and at the bottom of the iceberg ; )
